At-Home Drill: The Wall Barrel-Turn and Rear Shoulder Arc

ProSwing App Metric: On-Plane Depth Index, Spatial Clearance

How the move works

The wall tells the truth. You turn the barrel in a tight lane beside a wall. A wide hand path hits the wall. A tight swivel clears it.

You pair rear-shoulder tilt with the top-hand swivel and you keep the whole arc behind the rear shoulder. Clean reps teach depth you can repeat with a ball on a tee.

Youth cue: Do not wake the wall

You stand by the wall like it sleeps. You turn the barrel without a sound. Any tap means you restart the count.

High school and college read

You read On-Plane Depth Index and Spatial Clearance. You pass when the barrel trace enters deep and the hand trace never crosses the wall line. Clips flag a push path.

Parent and coach setup

You pick a flat wall or door frame with no pictures or glass nearby. You measure 12 to 15 inches with a bat laid on the floor. You allow dry cuts only, never live toss.

Step-by-Step Execution

  1. Set the lane: You stand 12 to 15 inches in front of a wall or door frame with your back facing the wall.
  2. Start the turn: You take your normal stance and you initiate the top-hand swivel and rear shoulder tilt.
  3. Clear the wall: You turn the barrel tight along the wall boundary without letting the hands or knob strike the wall.
  4. Stack clean reps: You complete 15 clean reps focusing on deep barrel entry behind the rear shoulder.

ProSwing App Callout

You place the phone side-on at waist level with the wall line in frame. You record the set. You read On-Plane Depth Index in ProSwing Studio. You pass when depth holds behind the shoulder across 15 reps with zero wall touches. You move the tee in only after a clean wall set.
